Arjun Kapoor has always been vocal on protecting his sister and actress Jhanvi Kapoor from social media trolls and nasty comments. He has often bashed media houses who tried to belittle his sister on the choice of her clothes. Talking about the same at an event, he said: “If you are talking about the length of a dress, media should not discuss it. Media plays it up if a troll talks about someone.”
He was present at the event with his co-star of ‘Namstey England’, Parineeti Chopra. She also came forward to support Arjun and said: “In my six-year career, I have seen a lot of change. Where people should appreciate and respect someone for their acting, they don't. All of that is flushed out. People have a strange power now, thanks to the internet. Their cameras are always on; be it at the airport or when you want some personal time, they are always recording you. The disrespect for actors is increasing - and I think that should stop.”
Arjun also put forward his views on the extent of negativity that is lingering on social media and it affects a person mentally and physically. He claimed that because of social media a common man is approachable to celebs but some people use it in another way and try to insult/troll the celeb to an extent where it becomes very infuriating.
He said: “We have become accessible and we react. That gives negative people a high. I am available every day. Earlier, it wasn't as khullam-khulla. The aura around celebrities is gone today.”
On the work front Arjun will next be seen in Namastey England alongside Parineeti and the film is scheduled to release on October 19.
