Actor Varun Dhawan, who made his screen debut with ‘Student Of The Year’ has come a long way since then. He has given many blockbusters and a really great film in the name of ‘Badlapur’; despite all of his achievements he has always been mocked for his acting but 2018 proved to be the year when his haters became his lovers.

Varun’s first film of the year, Shoojit Sircar’s ‘October’ got released in April and met rave reviews with critics and audience swooning over Varun’s portrayal of Dan Walia. Varun actually shed his outgoing personality to get into a skin of vulnerable Dan. The film had a melancholic tone attached to it and it made us root for the characters and situation.

Varun Dhawan literally acted through his eyes and I was just so shocked to see that it’s the same person who is known for doing ‘masala films’.

And, now Varun Dhawan got his share of merit as he received the trophy for ‘Best Actor’ at the 9th Jagran Film Festival. Expressing his happiness, the actor tweeted: "Won best actor for #October. The Shiuli flower has a lifespan only for a night but I have a feeling October will live on forever @ShoojitSircar @writeonj @ronnielahiri (sic)."

The film also starred Gitanjali Rao and Banita Sandhu in pivotal roles, the film was written by celebrated writer Juhi Chaturvedi, who is known for writing films like Vicky Donor and Piku.

Varun is currently seen in Sui-Dhaaga alongside Anushka Sharma and the film has been receiving great reviews from all the quarters.
