The iPhone X created a sort of history last year when it was launched in India. It became the first iPhone in the country to go past the Rs 1 lakh mark. The new iPhones like iPhone XS, XS Max and XR are about to be launched soon to give iPhone X a tough competition but it resorted to cutting the price to hold on to its market. The iPhone X now starts at Rs 91,900 for the 64GB storage version though some of the features like dual-SIM support (via IM), latest A12 Bionic processor, iPhone X lacks. However, there are eight 8 reasons why the 2017 iPhone X is still a better buy in India than the new iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR.
- Design and looksThe iPhone X looks exactly similar to the new iPhone XS. On the other hand, the iPhone XS Max is just a large version of the iPhone X. As far as the cheaper iPhone XR is concerned, the form-factor of the iPhone X is retained with a larger 6.1-inch and a single lens camera at the back.
- Better LCD display and rear CameraIf you compare the price of the iPhone X, XS and XS Max, new iPhone XR is the most affordable one and that could be the main reason why first time iPhone user would opt for this phone but however, when compared to the iPhone X, the iPhone XR is essentially a downgrade with an LCD display and a single rear camera. Existing iPhone X users have little reason to shift to the iPhone XR while buying the iPhone XS makes little sense for the price. So, if an iPhone X user essentially wants to upgrade, then opting for the iPhone XS Max more sense.
- Display quality sameThe display quality of the iPhone X and XS is exactly similar while the display of the iPhone XS Max is just bigger but the overall quality is same.
- Similar camera specificationsThe iPhone X has the similar camera specifications when compared to the iPhone XS and XS Max. Having said that the iPhone X lacks smart HDR.
- iPhone provides the dongleThe new iPhones do not have headphone dongle. So, one will have to buy the dongle which costs around Rs 1,500 whereas the iPhone X still comes with the dongle out-of-the-box.
- Value for moneyWith the recent price cut and the latest iOS 12 update, the iPhone X offers a similar user experience when compared to the iPhone XS and XS Max making it a value-for-money option.
- Shortage of supplyThe iPhone XR will go on sale almost a month after the other two new handsets go on sale. Add to that, almost every analyst is predicting that the iPhone XR will be short on supply because of the huge demand for it. It has been reported that Apple had issues with the supply of the Liquid Retina display which comes with iPhone XR and hence there could be a 'shortage' of devices.
