DC Universe was already going through a rough patch and now here comes another major roadblock for the studio. In a shocking development, Henry Cavill reportedly is no longer part of the DC cinematic universe as Superman. The actor had been essaying the role of Superman since 2013’s Man of Steel but now Henry has decided to bid goodbye to Warner Bros and DC studios.
According to sources close to the studio: “There’s a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work, Superman is like James Bond, and after a certain run you have to look at new actors.”
The source also added that the news is true in all its form and it has been decided as Cavill recently agreed to star in Netflix’s The Witcher. However, there are some other theories as well that are floating around the corner, according to some insiders, Cavill said quits as the studio was focusing on the development of ‘Supergirl’ and in that film, they do not an actor of Cavill’s age playing the role of Superman.
Another view adds that the studio is unlikely to make a solo Superman film for at least several years. Ben Affleck is also planning to part ways from DCEU as the studio wants a fresh face to play the superhero character (probably a young actor) in Matt Reeves’ stand-alone film on the Caped Crusader.
