Rani Mukherji is, without a doubt, one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood industry. She has not only had a great run in the box-office in 90’s but she still is ruling the box-office like a bawse!
Recently, we saw Rani in ‘Hichki’ where she played the role of a school teacher suffering from Tourette Syndrome. Not only did she get all the critical praises but she had a strong hold in the box-office too.
When asked about her success even after Hichki being a small budget film, she said, “I don’t categorise films on the basis of their budget. At the end of the day, it is a validation of my work being accepted by viewers. So, it’s not really about getting success on a higher or lower scale. The audience’s appreciation is of utmost importance. When a film does well, it makes you happy. Likewise, when it flops, irrespective of its budget, you feel equally sad.”
While fondering the memories of how everyone in the industry gave such warm and nice feedbacks after watching the movie. She says “I remember Karan’s (Johar) words. He told me, ‘You have performed like a veteran actor.’ Javed (Akhtar) uncle called me after the screening and said he loved my performance in Hichki more than Black.”
She also disclosed a funny detail, what Aamir Khan told her after watching the film, she says “Aamir joked that I make for a good-looking buddhi because of the last scene where I’m an old woman. This is the kind of attention an actor craves for.”
We do know that Aamir and Rani share a great bond but at times when we see a glimpse of that friendship, it melts our heart. Isn’t it?
