'Raazi', the movie directed by Meghna Gulzar with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles came like a breath of fresh air and swooned the nation with its sheer sincerity. The movie is a spy thriller film but it is not just any thriller movie we watch, it serves a purpose. It shows us that how patriotism is not something where you have to bash another country.
Raazi as a movie is ofcourse great in every kind of way and it is such a relief that the movie has done great business as well. A movie of this kind, especially, requires commercial success so that more directors and producers come out and invest their time and money in such projects.
We have a bad past with Pakistan which happened because of various reasons but people need to be sensitive about it. The current state of the country is that you have to prove that you are patriotic at every stage of your life and in order to do that, you have to hate Pakistan. Where is it written or from where did one get the idea that we need to hate another country or another culture in order to love ours?
Meghna Gulzar, said "The story itself is such a powerful one that we don't need placard carrying jingoism.....You say what to say and you do that simply and honestly. When you are making a film on patriotism and you are not bashing Pakistan, you need brave people to back it."
The movie focusses on this emotion of patriotism where you love your country unconditionally but you don't have to bash the other for proving your love. Everyone loves their country and they are loyal towards their own country, so why do we have to hate? If they are wrong, we are wrong equally.
