The New Raw is Rotterdam-based research and design studio who have launched the Print Your City initiative starting with the first Zero Waste Lab in Thessaloniki, Greece. The lab is outfitted with a 3D printing robotic arm and recycling facilities that were implemented by Coca-Cola.
To those unaware, Greenpeace a non-governmental environmental organization with offices in over 39 countries and with an international coordinating body in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2018 named Coca-cola and Nestle the words most polluting companies in terms of plastic waste they produce each year.
Thus, this innovative step to use plastic waste or just waste for a better cause comes as a laudable effort by Coca-Cola to reuse the plastic waste they produce. The setup allows people to bring in their plastic waste and become a part of the recycling process. They can even design custom street furniture that looks elegant and will undoubtedly add to the aesthetics of your bedroom, drawing room or even garden.
The New Raw is taking plastic household waste and using it to create 3D printed furniture for outdoors, specifically public spaces in Thessaloniki. The original prototypes were printed last summer and they not only offer public seating, but they also double as planters to add even more greenery.
Just last month, Hanth Park became the first public space hosting furniture from the Print Your City initiative. And it looks really attractive to be very honest. Surely won't mind purchasing the elegant setup.
