Hyderabad: Team India captain Virat Kohli showered Prithvi Shaw with great praise saying "none of us were even 10% of what Prithvi Shaw is when we were 18-19 years old." Addressing the media after India defeated West Indies by 10 wickets on Sunday, Kohli said that Prithvi is a big positive from this series. Prithvi was outstanding and Rishabh was really fearless though conditions were not as challenging as they might get in future but in Test cricket, the first and the most important thing is confidence and understanding that you can score runs at the Test level.

Kohli further added, "It's great to have someone who can get you off to the kind of start you require, especially make a mark in first series that you play. From that point of view, It's great to have a guy who is so fearless. He is not reckless, he is very confident in his game. you might feel that he will nick one now and then but he hardly nicks the ball. That we saw in England as well. His rare control against the new ball is a great skill. None of us were even 10% of what he is when we were 18-19. He has to build that, but a guy coming and playing like that in his series is a great sign for Indian cricket."

Kohli was all praise for the outstanding performance of pacer Umesh Yadav who claimed 10 wickets in a match thus becoming the only third bowler after Kapil Dev and Jawagal Srinath to have done so on Indian soil. "With Shardul Thakur breaking down very early, for Umesh to bowl like that in both inning was a great effort. It shows the fitness level he has to keep running in and bowl 140 clicks throughout the game and pick wickets, said, Indian skipper.
