Team India is performing quite well when it comes to both ODIs and Test Matches, however, one of the problems that management is facing is communication. Karun Nair’s exclusion from the team raised questions as his performance speaks more than his words. After his exclusion from the national team, he said that he wasn’t given the apt reason for being dropped off from the team. Murali Vijay also said the same thing as he was not informed regarding the same by management.
While speaking to a leading daily, Vinod Rai said that he believes in good communication between the players and the team management. He further said that he would only talk about the matter if he finds an issue. “I don’t think I would wish to bring the matter up (when he meets them in Hyderabad before the second Test against West Indies). Not all that has been said is true. Also, I think they are not children that I need to get into this. I feel that there is a need for good communication between the players and the team management (the selectors are a part of it). And as long as that is happening, all is good,” he clarified.
Karun Nair is not happy with the team management and after warming the bench during England series, he said that there was no communication from the selector. However, chief selector MSK Prasad had his own views on this matter and said that his colleague Devang Gandhi had spoken to the player and explained the scenario to the middle order batsman.
The CoA is going to hold a performance appraisal meeting of the Indian team ahead of the second Test in Hyderabad. According to media reports, Captain Virat Kohli, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Ravi Shastri will attend the meeting. Vinod Rai is also expected to be present in the meeting as the CoA decides on the new player contracts.
